Highly Efficient Angular Array Calibration Based on the Modal Wave Expansion Technique

In the upper millimeter wave range above 100, effect of array imperfections like manufacturing uncertainties and mutual antenna coupling increases, which leads to deviations from nominal positions angle-dependent errors in direction-of-arrival (DoA) estimation. The proposed calibration procedure aims correct assumed response model, based on therefore improve measurement accuracy array. Typically, parameters are obtained by interpolating a data set consisting measurements at known angles. required number points increases with larger size, makes very time-consuming costly. this article, highly efficient angular is modal expansion technique. After an initial theoretical formulation followed simulations, it shown how limitation minimum conventional techniques can be eliminated. Experimental results 150 demonstrate that novel approach achieves significant reduction points, especially for large arrays high channel count, without degrading DoA estimation performance.
